The original verses, one for men and one for
women, were revealed by The Bab, but in
a beautiful passage in the Kitab-i-Aqdas,
KA. 129, The Bab in a fascinating dialogue
with His Best Beloved, Baha'u'llah,
asks that the verse be changed,
because, as The Bab exclaims,
"one single word from Thee excelleth
all that hath been sent down
in the Bayan."
